global virtual classroom

AT&T transferred ownership of the AT&T Virtual Classroom to the Give Something Back International Foundation in 2003. The previous program was conducted from 1996 to 2000 with participation from over 25,000 students and teachers in over 50 countries. The Give Something Back International Foundation revitalized and launched anew the Global Virtual Classroom program in October 2003.

The Global Virtual Classroom is a free on-line education program for primary and secondary school students from around the world.  It provides an opportunity for students from different countries to work and learn from other students as they collaboratively design a website on a topic of their choosing.  Each GVC team consists of three primary or three secondary schools from different countries.  Once the teams have completed their work and designed their websites, a panel of international judges will evaluate the sites and determine the winners.  Plaques and cash awards will be presented to the winning teams and each student will receive a certificate of participation.

Find out more about the Global Virtual Classroom program at www.VirtualClassroom.org.  Be sure to check out the websites designed by primary and secondary school students during the GVC03/04 and the GVC 04/05 Contest. During the 2003/04  and 2004/05 school years, approximately 5,550 students from 134 schools in 33 countries participated in the GVC program.

For the 2005/06 school year, the winning GVC primary and secondary school teams will each be presented with a Grand Prize trophy and a $3,000 check for their schools. Second prize will be a trophy and a check for $1,500 and Thrid Prize will be a trophy and a check for $750.

Our sincere thanks to ATT and IDT for their support. We continue to welcome individual and corporate sponsorships for the GVC program. Please help us continue this worthy program.
